If you’ve heard this rumor over social media, we’re here to help you get your facts straight. Although they are a federal agency, FEMA does not have military assets to deploy. The decision to deploy the National Guard, should the need arise, is an authority given to each State’s Governor— and an important decision that lay in the hands of a single individual.

HOW DO WE KNOW?
Working closely with FEMA over the course of many years, and on behalf of our clients, to create reimbursement packages due to Emergency Declarations, we have been afforded the familiarity of their practices and procedures. FEMA’s purpose is to manage the process for financial and physical assistance, from the Federal Government to local governments, for losses due to a disaster.
CDR Maguire is a full-service Emergency Management consulting firm and has the expertise to guide our clients (local governments) through the process, to get reimbursed through the FEMA Public Assistance Program. Local governments don’t always know how to appropriately document their actions and submit them to FEMA, in order to receive maximum reimbursement for disasters, such as the COVID-19 Pandemic. Oftentimes, our client does not even have the manpower to do it, and that is where we step in. CDR Maguire can augment staff and serve as a consultant, and we have been doing so for many years.
